Berlinale’s Golden Bear to Be Awarded to Michelle Yeoh

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the Berlin International Film Festival will present an honorary Golden Bear to Michelle Yeoh. The award will be given to the actress during the Berlinale opening ceremony on February 12, 2026. Yeoh says the Berlinale has always held a “special place” for her, and receiving an award from the festival is “truly meaningful.” Before Yeoh, the honor had been given to figures such as Helen Mirren, Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, and Tilda Swinton.

Yeoh rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with films such as Yes, Madam, Royal Warriors, Police Story 3, and Wing Chun, but she is best known for portraying the Chinese secret agent Wai Lin in Tomorrow Never Dies from the James Bond franchise, as well as for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Yeoh, who served on the Berlinale jury in 1999, will soon appear in Wicked: For Good in theaters. A few months ago, she appeared in Ms. Rubik’s Cube, directed by Bai Xue, and in 2026 she will star in the television series Blade Runner 2099.
